BACK AND NECK PAIN

Back and Neck Pain

Pacific Physical Therapy has a “no pain” approach to low back (lumbar) and neck (cervical) pain.

We know that your neck and back pain can keep you from the activities that you love. There are many factors that can contribute to back pain which can include trauma, motor vehicle accidents, poor posture, abnormalities of the spine, bone spurs, and osteoarthritis to name a few. You will meet with one of our specialized, credentialed physical therapists who will conduct a thorough initial evaluation to determine the best treatment plan to help you overcome your pain.

One of the most difficult parts of helping patients recover from their neck and low back pain (LBP) is helping them come to the realization that more often than not, “less is more”. Many of us have grown up in the era of “No pain, no gain” or “Rub a little dirt on it”. Unfortunately, when it comes to spinal dysfunction and pain, this mindset will actually delay healing and reinforce the inflammatory processes which are causing the symptoms.

We work to educate our patients about their body, their symptoms, and what they can do to help encourage the healing process to occur as quickly as possible. This, along with an individualized program of hands-on manual therapy coupled with measured core stability, core strengthening, hip flexibility, and functional retraining will often help the patient’s return to their active lifestyles pain free and without restrictions.

Your therapist will create a customized treatment plan that will focus on restoring neck and back function through:

  • Functional movement
  • Core stability program
  • Core strengthening
  • Manual therapy
  • Modalities
  • Traction

Your physical therapist will provide education to help you understand your pain and how you can adjust your body mechanics to mitigate re-injury. Pacific Physical Therapy follows clinical practice guidelines to ensure we are delivering the best evidence-based care.
