Alicia Gilfoy PT, MPT, OCS
Alicia was born and raised in Rolla, Missouri. Growing up, she was always interested in science and figuring out how things worked. She began college with a pre-health profession major as she was uncertain what career path she wanted to take. In her pre-health professions class, they had speakers from various majors come to speak and Alicia found the PT speaker to inspire her most. The idea of a day where she could see a wide variety of people and be able to create positive changes in their lives was something she could aspire to. She received her Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy at the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2007 and graduated with cum laude honors. While attending college, Alicia was a teaching assistant for Mizzou’s Kinesiology class for Physical Therapy and Exercise Science students. She finds this experience beneficial for use in her day to day life including educating her patients and community. Alicia relocated to the Pacific Northwest in 2009 and fell in love with the landscape and milder climate. She is currently LSVT BIG ™ certified for evidence-based treatment of patients with Parkinson’s Disease. She also has additional training and experience in the treatment of vestibular conditions and enjoys helping patients relieve their vertigo in a short time frame in order to allow them to return to their normal lives. Alicia also enjoys treating a wide variety of orthopedic conditions through both manual and exercise treatments. Her philosophy regarding treatment is generally that pushing into pain is a poor solution. Rather, she focuses on finding solutions to reduce loading of painful areas and finding the drivers behind the source of the pain. In her spare time, Alicia enjoys jogging, hiking, painting on rocks and canvases, reading and hanging out with her son. She also loves pizza, sushi and trying new foods.
